About us

Looking to explore new languages, discover different cultures, or meet people from around the world? The Worldwise Centre, located on the first floor of the Adelphi Building, is the perfect place to do just that. We offer a wide range of resources to support language learning and intercultural understanding. This includes, books, easy readers, international literature, movies and other digital material.

The Worldwise Centre is a welcoming space where you can connect with others. You can make friends with speakers of different languages in a relaxed and friendly environment.

We also host a variety of exciting events throughout the year. These include cultural celebrations, film festivals and guest talks. Whether you’re passionate about languages or just want to experience something new, we invite you to get involved and be part of our diverse community.

Learning a language opens up a world of possibilities, whether you want to enhance your CV, communicate with confidence while travelling or meet new people.

We believe that language learning is for everyone, and anyone should be able to access it in a way that suits them. That is why the part-time language courses are open to all; students, staff and members of the public. Classes are available in various formats (semester or year-long) and levels.

The part-time language programme is currently available in eight different languages. All languages are available at beginners’ level (except English) with the more popular languages available at higher levels.

Study at your own pace with our resources and interactive language learning tools. We offer a self-study programme in 24 different languages using Rosetta Stone software. This course is not formally assessed. However, you will receive an achievement certificate and a progress report upon completing each level.
