Canadian students studying at the University of Central Lancashire may be eligible for financial assistance through the Canadian Government, as well as provincial and territorial student aid programs. These programs provide student loans to eligible students pursuing studies at foreign universities.
For detailed information on eligibility, funding processes, and how to apply, please visit the Student Aid section of the Government of Canada website.
Important information
The University of Central Lancashire is a Designated Educational Institution and is assigned two Educational Institution Codes. The appropriate code for your application depends on your field of study:
- School of Medicine and Dentistry courses: Use code PUNA
- All other programs: Use code PUFW
Please note that Canadian student loans are means-tested, meaning you will need to demonstrate financial need to qualify for financial aid.
Applying
You must apply for Student Aid through your provincial or territorial student assistance office or website. When you apply, you will be considered for funding from both the provincial and federal governments, so you should only submit one application per academic year. However, you will be required to apply each year.
- Federal loans are managed by the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC)
- Provincial loans are processed through your provincial or territorial student aid office
All borrowers, including existing borrowers and first-time applicants, will need a My Service Canada Account (MSCA) to be able to login to their NSLSC account. Students will need the MSCA to be able to accept their Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA).
If you do not yet have an MSCA, please register here as soon as possible. Should new users require a Personal Access Code, they will need to wait ten business days to receive the code by mail.
How your loan is processed
The provincial Student Finance Department will handle the majority of your loan processing. However, you may need to provide certain documents that must be completed and signed by the University in order to receive your funds.
Documents
Depending on your province/territory and the type of funding you are eligible for, you may need assistance from the University in completing certain documents.
- For course-related documents, such as course details, enrolment status, and tuition fees confirmation, please email the US Loans Team at the University.
- If you require a Canadian Tax form (TL11A), please email the form directly to the Accounts Receivable Team at the University.
Letter requests
In some cases, your provincial or territorial student aid office may require a letter from the University to confirm specific information that is not available in standard documents. For such requests, please email the Letter Requests team with the details of the information required.
Out of Province aid and Ontario funding
Students receiving out-of-province aid from Canadian provinces or the Ontario Student Assistance Program funding, should email their loan and deferment forms to the Student Fees and Funding Team.
